Kids Martial Arts

Q: “Does martial arts, karate, tae kwon do make kids violent?”

No way! Martial arts is about peace, harmony and diplomacy. It teaches children how to AVOID fights - not pick them.

Q: “Do kids get injured in martial arts, karate, tae kwon do?”

Sometimes. But the truth is, injuries are very, very rare here. We have a lot of measures in place to keep your child perfectly safe. In fact, safety is our #1 concern.

Q: “Can my child do martial arts, karate, tae kwon do if he/she is not the athletic type?”

Yes! In fact, martial arts is often a “home” for kids who don't excel at team sports. Kids who have trouble in baseball, basketball, etc. often come to martial arts and do extremely well. And it's okay if your child is not athletic right now. Through our classes, they'll get in great shape and become very athletic.

Q: “Is martial arts, karate, tae kwon do fun for children?”

Absolutely! In fact, kids usually have to drag their parents to martial arts class - something parents are always shocked to see. We have our serious moments here where kids work and learn... but we have just as many moments where they goof off and have a blast!

Q: “Do children's confidence & self-esteem grow with martial arts, karate, tae kwon do?”

Absolutely. Kid with low self-esteem often come out of their shells. As their skill level increases, they feel more and more confident. Other kids look up to them, just as they look up to other kids who are ahead of them. It builds a sense of confidence, pride, and teamwork.

Q: “What's a good age for a child to start martial arts, karate, tae kwon do?”

Honestly, practically every age is a good age to start! We have children as young as 3 years old, as well as teenagers. We also have specific programs for adults. So no matter where you or your child is on the age spectrum - we've got you covered.

Q: “Is martial arts, karate, tae kwon do for boys AND girls? Or just boys?”

Martial arts are for boys and girls. Our classes have a good mix of both, too. So if you're worried about your girl being alone in a group of boys, wipe that worry from your mind!

Kickboxing

Q: “Are both group & private classes available?”

Most of our members enjoy the group setting, but private sessions are available too depending on instructor availability.

Q: “How many other people will there be in my class?”

You can most likely expect 15-30, give or take a few depending on the day / time. We always make sure there are enough instructors no matter the class size though.

Q: “Are there other beginners in the classes?”

Yes, classes are full of people of all experience levels - including total beginners.

Q: “Will you help me with my nutritional habits?”

Absolutely. Nutrition is KEY to weight loss, and we'll pass along the powerful knowledge we've put together over the years. (By the way, our nutrition program is all about naturally improving your diet - NOT forcing foods on you that you don't like or starving yourself).

Q: “Is this anything like “cardio kickboxing”?”

No! This is a completely different experience that's very alive, interactive, and full of professional boxing equipment.

Q: “Will your kickboxing class help me tone up?”

Definitely. Our entire program was handcrafted to help you get lean & toned. Literally every thing you do here helps you achieve this goal.

Q: “How many kickboxing sessions per week should I come to?”

We advise 2-3 times for maximum results. However, some members come fewer times a week and see great results, and others come even more. It's all up to you.

Gracie Jiu Jitsu

Q: “What level of physical fitness does Gracie Jiu Jitsu require?”

Any. We have guys and gals who are in incredible shape - and others who aren't. Everyone has a great experience, and gets a killer workout, too.

Q: “Can I still take Gracie Jiu Jitsu classes if I have a medical condition / past serious injury?”

Most people with medical conditions and past injuries can take Gracie Jiu Jitsu without a hitch. However, we recommend speaking to your doctor first. He / she will know best. We're also glad to work around your condition / injury in accordance with your doctor's advice. Just let us know what your doctor says!

Q: “Do people get injured a lot in Gracie Jiu Jitsu?”

Not at all! You'll be training in an extremely supportive, safe environment. No one wants to hurt anyone - and no one wants to get hurt. While injuries happen from time to time (just like with any sport), they're the exception - not the rule.

Q: “Will I be the only woman in class?”

Not at all. While the classes are mostly filled with men, there are women who participate and get a lot out of our BJJ classes, too. Everyone's focus is on learning BJJ, supporting one another, and having a great time. Gender isn't an issue.

Q: “What's the class-environment like here?”

In a nutshell: supportive, fun & focused. Gracie Jiu Jitsu tends to have a “family-like” vibe. After all, you're constantly challenging yourself, and striving to be your best in every class. This creates a real sense of camaraderie & team - which is part of the awesome Gracie Jiu Jitsu experience.

Q: “I have no interest in competing. Can I still take these Gracie Jiu Jitsu classes?”

Absolutely! There are just as many competitive BJJ-ers here as there are hobbyists.

Q: “Will these classes help me get an edge for my upcoming competitive matches?”

Definitely. Our expert instructors will work with you to strengthen any weaknesses you have, exploit your strengths, improve your physical fitness and master your technique. Your opponents won't know what hit'em.
